Confidence, inner freedom and joy are not something you find–they’re your true nature
One idea to contemplate
Confidence, inner freedom and joy are not something you find–they’re your true nature. Your inherent qualities of being, always already present within you. You never lose them, but you might occasionally lose the awareness of them as the mind veils them in doubt and fear.
Three questions for you
Who or what am I apart from my thoughts, my profession, my roles as a family member? Who is the being that’s looking out behind my eyes? What are the qualities of that being?
See what it’s like to ask these questions from your head and then from your heart.
An experiment to try
Think of something you crave to accomplish but have been procrastinating on. How would achieving it feel in your body? What sensations, feelings, emotions would you experience? Feel into their energy and let it permeate and move through your body. Enjoy the pleasure of it, as deeply as you can. Whenever you work towards that goal, step into that energy first and work from it.
Quote to ponder
“What you seek is seeking you.” — Rumi
What’s on my mind
I finally understood the meaning of the word ‘grace’ yesterday and found new gentleness for myself when I realised that I am allowed to make mistakes and not feel shame for my mistakes. In fact, freeing myself of the shame and blame is what prevents me from repeating the mistakes. I can see a very strong correlation between my recurring problems, failures, anything I haven’t fixed, suboptimal behaviours — and the amount of shame and guilt I feel for that.
