Love is the absence of judgement. And that’s all what most of us really need yet find it most difficult to afford to ourselves. Offering this to someone else—holding them in a non-judgemental space of unconditional acceptance for who they are right now is the most meaningful gift we can give.
And the degree to which we can do that and mirror back to them that there’s nothing wrong with who they are, is the degree to which we allow them to do that for themselves. Unconditional acceptance, not when and if, but now and as, is the heart’s deepest desire.
That’s what a child most craves. And so do adults, behind the masks of strength, composure and invincibility we feel we need to put on.
